...I asked this question in the middle of a different thread... but it probably deserves its own post...

after collecting parts (at a slow pace, due to a small wallet)... I am at the point that I need to buy springs then I will be able to actually LIFT my bronco. Im pretty well set on using the Deaver (superflex?) 6 inch rear springs (with NO blocks).

-- for the front. I want to know, pros n cons... variable rate or constant rate coils? (cage or deaver 6 inch front coils)...

what are your opinions and exerience(s) with either one?

PS current parts collected for lift. Sterling 10.25, Dana 60 (1979), Cage radius arms. assorted cage small parts (pitman arm, radius arm mounts, D60 axle mouts, trac bar mount... etc)...

I have heard good things about cage but it all depends on what your plans are for the rig I.E rocks sand mud ect. how much on street dring?

I haven't had much time to use/test mine yet, but I just got done installing a SAS with the Cage progressive springs on mine. There are a few others that have used them and had nothing but good words.

good point I forgot to mention that a progressive coil will suit many needs.

i really like my straight rate tough country coils, especially on dunes, i've found the progressive ones are really nice for rock crawling, and trails, but for daily driving they really lend to body roll and on dunes you get really good flex, but bottom out more than with straight rates. for a DD that is only a weekend warrior i'd go with straight rates, but for a trail rig i'd go cage coils

I guess I should have mentioned that this rig is being build for primarily trails, mud etc (not necessarily rocks) but may be driven on the street (as a toy, not as a daily driver.. I have a... ahem 97 escort for that)...

well after waiting for a while to see if cage would get their 6 inch springs back in stock, and talking with them (they say it may be a long time before they re-order them). I purchased the 6 inch deaver coils, along with the 6 inch deaver leaf springs for the rear. Getting closer... just with my darn wallet would fill up faster!

you'll be happy with these. I think I'd actually like to switch to the newer, slightly stiffer rate deaver one day, mainly for what I do (mine are the older ones that are even softer still).

these are the newer (slightly) stiffer spring rate (300lbs per inch I believe).
