The steering column plate on the 78 is pretty rusty,I am at a dillema on how to patch/weld it up.Does this plate remove and does anyone have one not rusted up? This is the mounting plate that bolts to the firewall that secures that end of the column.

It bolts to the firewall, the only bitch is you have to remove the steering shaft from the column to get the shifter bracket off to remove the mounting plate.

The column itself is not hard to R+R.

I never gave that a thought.I guess I will try to weld up the piece in place as best I can.
Its still all together,but getting tender in areas and holey.
