Looks like a good mechanic can rebuild one with no hidden suprises. Why buy a rebuilt one?

Well they are fairly local to me and rebuilt mine with all new parts with a two day return. I wasn't sure where you were located and with them having a shop on both coasts I thought it might work for you. They do good work. Sorry if that wasn't what you were looking for.:shrug

The chain, gears and case were in good shape on mine so I replaced bearings, seals and pump for ~$90 w/ a kit I bought off ebay.

A novice mechanic can rebuilt one with no hidden surprises. The BW1356s are very simple T-cases... Check out Shadofax's writeup on it, it's a good one.
