Love the softtopper, the Rampage one is not very good in my opinion.

It appears that many people are out and about anyways here... Right or wrong. I am happy to drive mine a bit after long time in the garage this winter.
We went to junkyard today and got some interior parts, mostly trim pieces for the 91 Truck which I broke doing stereo stuff in the middle of winter (oops). Found em all in a 90 f-250.
$42 in total...

Should get some new parts this upcoming week, kind of excited to get them.

TR Beadlock wheels, with what should be the correct backspace to not have to use the wheel spacers I installed earlier. Those are their 15x9 with the Rock Ring.

Wrapped the y-pipe last night, Turned out good. Will see how it holds up, or how the pipe holds up with it wrapped. I fully expect to have to replace this a few years from now due ot rust and such but it is what it is.

Also put some heat shield on the floor right where this runs along.
Observing eyes will also see the 2 bungs I added for a wideband and a normal 02 sensors. I have the wideband mounted on the cage already, the other one will be empty for awhile.

Got some stuff done over the weekend. Finally installed the Summit Billet Dist. I got 2 years ago. The advance went all wacky on my duraspark stock dizzy recently, so made sense to swap it out. Gonna run this engine in the dunes 1 more time. Really need another set of plug wires that are longer to route them a bit better. Its a good thing they are good ones as I'd likely get some cross talk if not with how they currently are.

Also painted the bead lock rings. No powder coat for me, I feel this will be easier to touch up in future. Also less expensive.

Dialing in the new distributor still. But at least able to mess with this one easily.
Should have the Trxus tires dismounted from the old wheels over this weekend too.

Brandon where did you get the factory style y-pipe for your truck? or was it custom made. Did you put a shift kit into your c-6
thanks hope everyone is well and safe
Bob
Thanks, I will take that as compliment...
I made the y-pipe my self. Its 3" off the headers into a 4" collector. Flowmaster merge piece, summit racing 3" bends, nothing fancy.... Its currently stepped back down to 3" for the rest of exhaust, but that'll change to 4" all the way out once 429 goes in (some day, likely later in the year). Its got a 4" v-band couple inches off the cross member.
For the C6, I have installed a shift kit in them yes, However that last 2 have gotten complete valve bodies from Broader Performance. They go threw the whole valve body and lap all the important bits so they are not sticky. The 78 currently has a complete broader Built C6 in it, and torque converter, works awesome.
My preference is now to get the whole valve body and swap that. Likely would not do a self install shift kit again.

Broader's will also let you hold the gear until you tell it to change.

Super happy with how these came out.

I got the wheel backspace spot on, still should fit on the trailer too.

Took down the road yesterday, No surprises so that is good.
Need to dial in the new distributor a bit but that is to be expected.

1 more dune trip with the old 460 and then the 429 is going in.

All dialed in and runs good. They D2VE heads really need replaced on this 460, as they limit the timing can run, but it is what it is for now.
Tires and wheels run very good down the road for literally no balancing beads or weights.

How much advance do you run with those open chamber heads? I'm planning on 34* on my 460 with D3VE's unless it wants something else once I get it going.

Im at 8 initial, 21 Mech added in. ~29 total... Small amount of vacuum added for part cruise, this was main reason for the Dist. Swap as so I could adjust this. The duraspark dizzy vacuum advanced was weird and pushed it to 48 total (ping city). Had to run with that dis-connected.

Your intentions are very close to what I think should be with "good" heads. The 429 will likely be set to somewhere around 10-14 initial and 32-34 total. I have same summit dist. in that engine.

Nice work on the truck, been away for a while. When you change to the 429 what are you going to do with the trans cross member, My convertor failed so my truck has been down for a bit. Getting one tonight and will install tomorrow fingers crossed. Question on the new distributor are you running the ford box or did you put a summit box to it. Reason asking I got a msd box and distributor i was running then it all failed, sent it back to mid and they couldn't find anything wrong. Thoughts.
thanks

Trans cross member likely to stay stock for awhile. May redo if I redo the anti-wrap bar/bars. I do not really have any issues with the stock cross member, other then it makes it harder to work on.
I am Running the summit Brand ignition box. Have been for a few years now. First with stock style dist, now with this new one. Not saying it will not die tomorrow, but I also run one in a daily Driver f-150 that has been fine for over a year now. I would buy it over the MSD without much thought.
The MSD boxes are known for crapping out, especially the new stuff. It does help running them inside cab (under dash) to keep them out of elements and run isolating rubber mounts.
I have also found that they are picky on voltage, make sure you have good or separate power and ground for the ign. box. I run it own its own set going to/from battery.

Tuned in the 78 some more, makes it easy with the wideband to see where your at, thought like anything its just a tool that you gotta use accordingly. Super useful to set the idle though. The other areas you have to be aware that its a carb, lol. Sniper will likely end up on the 429 after initial running in and such.

I went back to the stock ford distributor and box after the msd issue. It pinks with the vacuum advance hooked up so i will unplug i set the timing by bring engine speed to 2500 rpm's and 34-36 degrees and lock it down. I am getting really tired of the truck with all the issues thinking of selling but i will never get close to what i got in it, but would be happy with 15000.00
Back to the beast, be safe with all this crap going around.
