custom Console/Gauge Cluster(UPDATE)

Hello all,

Here are a few pics of a a console/gauge cluster i have been working on.

the end product will replace the existing center console and house all of the gauges i want, (End Temp, Oil Pressure, Trans Temp, Volts and Fuel level in Aux tank)

the other panels will hold a PCI race radio and switches for lights, comm, etc,,the back panel will be for a shifter, etc.

the panels and frame are from aluminum, the side will be either aluminum or diamond plate.

all the aluminum plate is from old highway signs that the D.O.T was getting rid of,,1/8 in, a pain in the butt to clean up, but free and nice to work with.

I did not want to ruin the center of the dash by removing it or covering it as I still want a nice "original looking" dash, i still want the stereo in it;s original place and still want the a/c and heater controls....

Please let me know your thoughts, suggestions, etc

This is of the gauge cluster, before the frame started to take shape.

This is of the frame, All I have been working with is a bench vise, hack saw, rubber mallet, 16oz hammer and a pneumatic cut off wheel.

This will give you a rough idea of the angle of the gauge cluster.

gauge cluster with new wording on gauges.

UPDATED PHOTOS

Spent a little time this weekend working on the console, and have the plates all sized and ready for the support brackets that will go from the floor to the frame,

also trimmed the edges to match, leaving a 1/8 inch overhang for the diamond plate for the sides.

ghostrider,

The wider part of the frame will be in place of the existing console,

the narrower gauge part will be flush with the bottom of the climate controls,, covering the ashtray

the side frame will run down and screw/bolt into the floor and then be covered with aluminum plate or aluminum diamond plate.

each of the panels is made to be removed individually for access to the component mounted to that plate,,, i did this instead of having 1 large plate that you would have to remove to get to just one wiring harness, etc.

i do not plan on needing storage inside of the console,
