Ladies and Gentleman,
When I put Roscoe's transmission in reverse the fuse breaks. What could this mean???

1984, 300 L6, smogless, manual 3speed with overdrive.

You got a short in the electrical.

Shifter wire shorting ? It was a very common repair on some models. Look at the base of shifter where wires exit

Which fuse #?

For fuse #4, from a fading memory, some shorts have occurred in wiring to AOD shift Indicator atop steering column.

For fuse #5, inspect back-up wiring at Neutral safety switch on the AOD through Lamp connectors. Neutral Safety Switch Location in an 86 AOD; "...The AOD has the neutral safety switch mounted above the valve body on the driver's side of the transmission .

May need to inspect from fuse panel through the circuit as shown below in 86 EVTM

Thank You for the information as a turn signal switch had just been replaced and when reinstalling steering wheel shell I bet this pinched the wire.
