I have a chance to grab a 1985 F350 Deisel. It has an 85 6.9 and an 85 stickshift.
It is sitting with a 1996 F-350 body.
Anyway, I was thinking about doing the "never before done" deisel swap however, I would like to use my E4OD transmission that I have now.
Does anyone know if the bellhousings will mate?
I am already looking around for a company that can supply an OBD1 for this setup...

the gas bellhousing and diesal bellhousings are different. not sure if a 7.3 e4od and 6.9 share same bellhousing bolt pattern or not?

the 7.3idi and 6.9 are the same. dunno bout the 7.3 powerstroke. what year did they start using the e4od?
From what I am reading, they started to use them in 1989
I guess they used the AOD before that?
But, it is my understanding that the E4OD is just a fancy AOD similar to the 700R4 and the 4L60 for GM.
With that said, did the Diesel trucks use a different transmission altogether?
It is too bad this one is a stick...
