This was my first time doing any work on the diff besides changing fluid wheel seals and bearings, so im not too knowledgeable when it comes to diffs. I just threw in a new aussie, and an open carrier (stock one was posi) Now the truck shifts hard, abs light is on, and speedometer doesnt work. So i searched a little hear and was looking at stuff talking about the exciter gear. Is this the flex plate looking thing on the carrier? If so me new carrier didnt have one, correct me if im wrong but this is my problem right? Can i take it of the old carrier and slap it on the new one?

Yea your going to need that tone ring in there. It affects a lot from engine management, trans shifting, fuel eco and rear anti lock.I have no idea if it will fit on your new carrier though where did you get it??
