Does anyone know where this piece goes?

I was replacing the foam on the duct vent which is under the dashboard and after I was done, I lifted it up and this metal gold piece fell out and looks like it’s a stamped number 8 on it.

I’m guessing someone accidentally dropped it into the vent?!?! Never seen that and my dash was completely removed.

Thanks for the feedback. I removed the dash and the air duct and since then moved it like 5 times twisting and turning it repairing the broken screw tabs and then this time it just dropped out. It doesn’t seem to be any type of screw washer or necessary brace of sort since the air duct frame is strong ABS material.
Thats a paint stencil...come in a kit, they slide together to interconnect. We have a big box of them at the farm for painting ID numbers on equipment. Someone dropped it down the vent or something.

Hahaha!! I guess you never know what will come out of a part when a vehicle has had multiple owners. Obviously I’m the one who takes things apart often and put things back together only to find I have a left over screw or part I missed.

When I was in preschool I dropped my fire chief badge into our Mercury Grand Marquis vent. Never got it out. It wasn’t a big deal, just don’t mind me talking about it 40 years later.

At some point whenever someone disassembles the vents in my '89, 5.56 brass is gonna fall out......

The PO of the 86 XLT I recently sold was apparently an electrician, soooo many wire nuts.

Frog mummy, and a chuck'e cheese token from 1999. That's what I found in mine, nothing worse than a dead animal in the ac ducts.. old x-wife get even thing was to drop sardines down vents of x-husband's new roadster. The damp dry cycles make the smell last a very long time

Btw those defroster ducts were crumbling on mine and couldn't find anything beyond jy for replacement, my solution is to use 1inch non-split polyethylene wire loom I got off ebay. Perfect fit and cut to length..

Lol mine allegedly had commie x39 brass in em... That road sign allegedly never stood a chance. Of course the alleged evidence burned with the alleged bronco 8 years ago. I still allegedly have the alleged Romy SKS though. Allegedly.

I thought you said that all went down in the horrible boating accident?

Allegedly. And it was a kayak. But somehow the SKS always manages to find its way home. Guess the Romanians taught it how to swim in 1957.

Musta been one huge pack of 'yotes!
Musta been one huge pack of 'yotes!
Lol, while there are 'yotes here, it wasn't that. I have a back field, it's about 150yds front to back, and a couple steel plates hang year 'round, so i can shoot any time i want. A few times, i've just grabbed an ar, couple loaded mags, driven back there, parked at the top of the field, and shot steel from the driver's seat. The bottom of the window frame is too low, so i lean back, and put an elbow on the arm rest.
Brass goes everywhere inside, i've opened the door all over town and left brass in parking lots.
I've done it multiple times around midnight also, but i go about halfway down the field, and get out. Guess i need to try that from inside. I go back no lights, using nvgs, and shoot with the ir laser.
Most of the brass is gone, it's been awhile, i'm overdue.....
