hey i have a 90 and it idles fine bet when driving if you try to accelerate to get it to downshift it studders and the tach goes craxy then it dies and wont start for about an hour or so can anybody tell how to fix it thank you very much

umm...I had a SIMILAR problem and it was a my coil and a fuse - I ended up having to take it to a dealer. :shrug

see if anyone else replies, because I am just shooting out a suggestion.

Sounds like another ignition module. it controls your tach. my 89 did the same thing but my idle fluctuated. new one is about $40.
