Hey Folks,

I may be counter logic to most folks, but I actually do not mind little chimer for things making noise. That said, mine is barely audible for the turn signal and headlights when the vehicle is off etc..

I believe from what I can hear that it fires at the right times for all the right reasons, but I'm guessing the device has a blown speaker or something and needs replaced? I can't figure out what the heck to call it to look up a diagram on where to locate it or find a replacement to order etc...

Help?

Hi @WareWolf MoonWall
i believe this is called the door chime module and the base part number from ford is 10D840.

it should be located above the gas pedal and under the dash

Thanks! Looks like there might be a couple of flavors of that part, but now that I know where to dig mine out from, I can do a visual compare of the results. It's so quiet that you can't ear it when the engine is running so I had no idea it was even working until I went to replace the headlight bulbs and turned them on to check things were correct. I got the fainted little chime I almost missed it, and I tried listening around the dash but couldn't get a good idea for where it was coming from. Figured I'd have to tear the dash apart to find it, but this sounds easy to access.

Sometimes using a length of garden hose like a stethoscope can help pinpoint where a noise is coming from. That way you're not playing under dash yoga trying to get an ear close in that tight area

That is both hilarious and brutally honest for the show my neighbors will more than likely be subjected to, though if I am lucky I can sometimes convince my tiny wife to do things like that for me. Especially if it involves squeezing arms / hands into tiny places like when we were replacing the power lock actuators hah.

Yo WareWolf MoonWall,
Inspection and Verification
  1. Verify the vehicle owner's original concern by operating the warning chime system to duplicate the vehicle owner's concern.
  1. Inspect to determine if one of the following electrical concerns apply:

    VISUAL INSPECTION CHART
    Electrical
    · Check system fuses
    · Check connectors for loose connection, damage, corrosion
