I need to figure out the trick to removing the door latches.

In my 89 I can barely lock and unlock the doors because the latches seem to be badly corroded.

I figured no problem 3 screws and a few clips and I'll have them out to fix or replace. No such luck! It seems that all the connecting bars have bent ends that are fished through the holes in the latch and handles. I also have power locks to deal with.

How the heck do I get these latches out of my doors without destroying anything. Pics would be great :twotu:

They are a PITA. Check out threads on "door lock actuator". More than likely it is the actuators that are making the locks stiff.

Pretty easy now. I drilled out the rivets. With the window up, I took out the rear window track mounting bolt so the track could move. Then just lift the actuator towards the fron of the vehicle to 90degrees and pull. Reinstal in reverse and all is good.
