hey all, i have a 93 xlt with power windows and locks. everything works on it but the lock on the driver's side. when i press the lock button i hear the motor working but the rod doesn't move up or down. you can't even maneuver it by hand. anyone got any ideas on what it is? someone said that it might be the lock actuator but if it is I have no idea on how to replace it.

thanks,

skynyrd

thanks for mentioning that steve. i searched and found the answer i was looking for. well i'm not going to spend $80 on a new actuator from ford so i just disconnected the actuator from the assembly. well, no power locks but it works manually so im happy.

Did you take the panel off to SEE what is going on?

I also have a 93 XLT with the same problem on both doors. I can hit the unlock and lock buttons repeatedly for 10 sec or so (until the lock moves up and down) and it fixes the problem for a couple of months. This has worked for me 5 or 6 times now.
