If this is the resaon the question was asked....

On a recent "MythBusters" they compared gas mileage with tailgates up vs. tailgates down.

Tailgate up wins by several additional mpg per tank. :thumbup

I've taken my tire off a couple times to carry stuff with the gate down.

Take the 2 clips off and pound out the 2 pins. I've never take a bolt out.

its the same thing, the reason is the bubble that the tailgate makes in the back then the air later on has a smoother flight over your truck.

I drove 250 miles

down interstate type Canajian highways and a huge load in the back moving my sister.

No troubles, just had to lash down the swing arm and relocate the spare inside as I was worried about the strain on the arm.

Depends on how it breaks. You can probably open up your tailgate and see it layin in the bottom. I heard mine break but havent bothered to fix it

i have my torsion bar disconnected anyhow.
after it broke loose of them stupid plastic clips and broke my old rear window.
the sucker weighs a ton to lift, but i am not bitchin. if you cant lift the tailgate, you should be screwing with it.
