Wish it was that easy. I've been fighting mine since I replaced the shoes and hardware. Either not touching at all or rubbing and sending the drum temp to around 400 degrees
Wish it was that easy. I've been fighting mine since I replaced the shoes and hardware. Either not touching at all or rubbing and sending the drum temp to around 400 degreesSimce I've seen a small handful of threads about getting more stopping power from the drums over the past couple weeks... heres how you go about it.
It should be made known, that is you tighten too much, it'll be a bitch to take your drums off, as the pads will drag. Just do one to three clicks, drive it to see how it feels, then repeat.
All of this is detailed in the Haynes book.. but heres some real world pictures from the fellow Bronco owner. :beer
So here we go...

Get your trusty screwdriver...

Locate this hole on your drums... it might be covered with crap...

Insert it at a slight downward angle... you'll feel the star gear about 1/4 inch in...

Pull the screwdriver down, you'll feel and hear the click.
Cheers and enjoy your newfound trick. :beer
