i would swap in a zf, same amount of work and you dont loose the strength or Overdrive.

but to answer your question, the computer will throw a code but otherwise not affect how the engine performs. you can also find a motor/C6 ecu combo that fits what you plan to run and not get the computer throwing codes.

do a seach for zf swap. its been done a bunch recently with everything you need. its no more complicated then going to a C6 thats for sure.
