I would leave it. It won't run any different with the EGR not functioning.
i thought the egr system makes the motor run cooler. :shrug

If your EGR is not working properly, you definitely need to replace it, or your rig will run like s**t. There is a way to test your egr by applying vacuum to it, should be in your repair manual. Bottom line, if you do replace it, spend the $$$ and get a Ford part, the aftermarket ones don't work very well.

My check engine light turned on recently, and the EGR valve was the cause as well. The code says "insufficent EGR flow". I didn't notice any change at all in how it runs, but I have been getting 2-2.5mpg less since the light came on.
I'm going to try to clean it and see if that helps before I spend any money on it.

I unplugged mine...runs fine :thumbup
P.S. GearHead did the same...
I'd agree that it makes at least 2-2.5mpg difference when it's working. Might want to check the EVR on top of the EGR and make sure it's actuating properly
