Ok as you might Know i threw a rod in my engine and seized the damn thing but the thing i want to know is

What things can i take out of my engine compartment and how do i go about taking them out i

i wont be doing it to this engine ( its pretty much shot so im not using it ) but im planning on getting another 351 and i want to clean up alot of the electronics crap and get rid of the AC pump

heres a pic of the Galaxies 390
as you can see the only wires are the spark plugs and the positive and the negitive (theres a few others too...)

and heres the pic of my 351 in my bronk

and as you can see the broncos got a LOT of wires and i really want to clear out all the junk so it will be easier to fix on the trail and since in lacey i have no emmision to worry about i want to clear out alot of that stuff
i essentially want just the power steering pump and the alternator ( im thinking of moving that to another braket like up were the AC pump is )

I dont know if you guys could help me but your advice would help

you could move your battery to the back if ya want more room, but about the emmisions here is something you should look at
What is the fascination....?

That is an interesting post on Ford truck. Seems like you are fine removing your smog pump if you get the correct cat to go with it. Sounds like a reasonable compromise but perhaps I am missing something.

It sounds to me that you just need to spend a little more "quality time" under your hood to get aquainted with all those wires and hoses you want to get rid of.

Everything that's there is there for a reason.

I say just spend a little time getting everything in order like bundling wires together, rerouting your spark plug wires and looming them, and just familiarize yourself with everything.

Not only will you know every hose and wire in there, but you'll get a chance to find any potential problems that you can fix so that you won't break down on the trail in the first place.

Just my .02

if your truck is running right and you still have the cats and theEGR, you should still be able to pass state emissions (heh sry Cal, not so shure about your checks) from what i get from anybody that is not trying to sell you a new smog pump will tell you that they dont do much, just get a good aftermarket cat and leave the EGR (engine will need to be reprogramed to run without that) and you will still be helpin out, besides 96 EFI's dont even have a smog pump from the factory.
