Exhaust Question, DID "SEARCH", I am gonna run my 3" Y-pipe from Bassani with a 3'' muffler. Does it matter how long the case is?

Watt I am trying to get at is, Is it better to run say a shorter free flowing muffler, a longer free flowing muffler or it doesnt matter as long as its free flowing?

Thanx in advance,

PS I am not running a meow :histerica

search noob :goodfinge

i just got finished doing the exhaust on my truck tonite, ran a pipe from the first cat ( the second is no longer existant) muffler, then a turndown. alot quieter, which is what i wanted with the long miles ive been doing.

i dont think the legnth would matter really.

Generally, with a straight through muffler, the longer the case is the more of the "pop pop pop" sound is removed. It will also be slightly quieter, but sound deeper overall compared to the same set up with the short case.

You don't need no stinkin' mufflers, run pipes right off the CAT. Marauder heard mine.
Rob, I m not running any cats. Thats why I wanted something to keep it a little lower then open Exhaust....

So far this is watt I plan on running:

Bassani Y-Pipe {Off-Road} No cat
Free flowing round racing Muffler 23" Long 18" case

All 3"s straight back....

Thanx Guys, I will let you know how it sounds,

Listen to my vid/sound clip on my Superford page. Bassani off-road y-pipe, no cat, Flow 40 right at the end of the y-pipe, then a turn down. I love the sound and there's isn't any room to run it any other way. 3" center inlet and out let on the muffler just clears the drive shaft. Any offset would put the muffler too close to the DS.

Dynomax Bullit is a good one if space is limited. This is the short case, which has a lot of the poping sound once your at 3000 RPM's, which I like. The longer case is slightly quieter and doesn't start poping untill about 3700 RPM's. Below that the sound of the exhaust kind of all flows together in to one tone if you know what I mean. The short case does the same but it starts to make the cherry bomb sound at a lower RPM.

IMO the best sounding muffler there is if its also on a good system that will enhance the sound

Yeah, thats watt i have now. Only difference is its 2 and a quarter. Also, my Y-pipe has some cracks in it and is leaking. Thats why I bought the Bassani 3'' Y-pipe...
