I bought a gallon of fiberglass resin and 5 sheets of the fiberglass at Home Depot, cost about $50.
Pictures of the rusted area, then repaired area:

Basicly it's a continues panel of fiberglass from the drivers feet to the tailgate. I hope that will save this body for a few more months.
I took a peak at the pasanger side, it's not as bad, but will need work. I'll do that in a few weeks.

my my, werent you a busy boy. looks good. did you cut out the rust or just lay it right on top? so this is a temp fix?
i did the samething on my 1980 bronco. mine wasn't as bad as your but it didn't get any worse after i did the fiberglass
That'll hold you for a year or two Fireguy

Done many a similar repair to cars I've owned up here. Just don't flex too too much or it'll start to pop off and seperate.

At least it'll keep the fumes and water out and slow down the rust a bit. This'll buy you time to find a good Southern 86 cheaply !

Sure hope you stay in broncos (86s in particular).

I ground down some of the rust. But not a lot. To remove all of it would remove the entire panels. Plus the rusty panels gave the fiberglass shape.

other than loose flakes, it'll pretty much adhere to anything.

Have you discovered "kitty hair" ? The long strand fiberglass ? It's really strong and adds depth to a repair where you need that.
