So I'm having this situation where anytime I hit 60mph on the freeway my bronco just randomly cuts out. The engine stays running but it just loses all it's power and I've tried down shifting when this has happened but doesn't help. odd thing though it doesn't happen when I stay under 55mph ! Does anybody know what could be the problem?? The tranny was serviced not too long ago, tune up done, new carb, new alternator, new battery... does anyone know/?

Assuming the tune up you had "done" is good, first thing I'd suspect is a bad fuel filter. If the filter is good I'd be looking real hard at my cat(s).

Them's just wild guesses though. Like the man said....more details would help.

Me thinks your transfercase is failing.

Any noises? When you say cut-out, do you mean like trans goes into neutral?

What do you mean "cuts out?" Does if feel like it popped into neutral? Engine revving and you are coasting to a stop? Sputtering, bucking? does it start to work after it cools? What kind of tranny?

it's 1984 full size 6 cyclinder... What I mean by cut outs that it just loses all power but the engine still runs... It still stays in gear but just loses power
