So we're almost ready to put our rebuilt motor in the Bronco! There is a plate that goes between the engine and the flex plate. How is this plate held on? Is it secured from the transmission to block bolts?

Yes the bellhousing bolts secure it as well as a couple smaller bolts down lower

You definitely want to run it too. Some people omit it and that's a mistake. It's called a block plate. The reason you want it in there, it is part of the offset for the starter so it engages correctly on the flexplate.
