FPR/Low Fuel Pressure

Hey everyone,

I believe I'm having a fuel pressure issue.

If I'm correct, the fuel pressure spec for my 92 with a 302 is 35-45 psi key on engine off. I have a new fuel pressure regulator. I'm losing fuel to the return line before I even hit 30 psi (I undid the return line and checked with my fuel pressure gauge attached). I've haven't seen fuel pressure climb much higher than 30 psi and I seem to lose fuel pressure quickly when I turn the key off. I confirmed none of the fuel injectors are leaking although many of them are in rough shape. Do I have a failed FPR out of the box or am I misunderstanding how the system works?

FYI new new fuel pump installed.

30 PSI at idle is what most folks get with V8 engines. A few PSI +/- is acceptable. If the pressure will not rise above 30 PSI with the vacuum line removed or tested under load you have a problem. What was wrong with the old pressure regulator?

It was one of those "while I'm in there" scenarios. I cleaned up the old oem one and put it back on. I primed the pump a few times and it popped an injector out of the rail before the FPR allowed fuel to the return line. I think that's probably what should happen right?
