Have used these forums for earlier repairs, but newly registered. Looking to replace the u-joints and the front axle drive shaft on my 96. Can anyone give some insight as to wether or not the knuckle needs to be disassemled to remove the driveshaft or will it just slide out when the hub is taken apart? Any diagrams of assemby would be greatly appreciated.

I think your talking about the axle shaft.... And no, the knuckle can stay put... The axle shaft will slide right on out....

Everything from the knuckle out has to be removed. Knuckle itself stays though.

You can leave the upright/knuckle in place, but you must remove the spindle from it. There are five nuts retaining it, and you must remove the block surrounding the ABS sensor; there's a bolt with a 12-point head on the back side fastening that block.
