I did do a search on this first but couldn't find anything quite right. This may be a easy (or stupid) question for some of you.
I can do alot of stuff myself but not real big in body type work.
Anyway, I just put new tires on, I have a couple inches of lift, everythings great but I still get some rubbing on my bumper when turning in reverse or wheeling in rougher conditions. I dont have the money right now to spend on more lift. I want to just move my bumper forward like an inch or to for now. Does anyone have any ideas how I could maybe just extend my front bumper out without a major project for now? I never had the bumper off myself and havent really researched how its attached yet. Would it be a big pain int he ass to remove it and put some kind of spacers in to move it forward?? Thanks.. :shrug

Make a 2 spacers out of wood or steel. 2 x 3 x 5 is a good dimension for the blockss. Get some longer hardware and you are ready to roll. You only need about an inch to space out or 2 to be safe. I have Mine spaced out 2".

Actually please do not use wood.
If you got in a front end collision and your insurance adjuster found out you used wood to space your bumper they would deny your claims and you would be at fault.

Your bumper is there to protect you in a front end collisiion. REMEMBER that.

If you need to space the bumper out, go talk to your local car dealership and ask them for bumper spacers.
I know for a fact that BMW's are delivered in covered trucks and are packed tight. They have these rubber bumper guards in between the cars.
I dont think you will find these at your local honda dealership because their cars are just piled onto a big arse trailer that is completely open.
You may have to talk to the shop detailer at like BMW, or Mercedes to get what I am reffering to. but they should be free if they have what you are talking about.
Usually the first person to touch or drive these cars are the detailers since those class of cars have to be finalized by the detailers. (Mats put in, Wiper arms installed, vaccumed, rubbed down and inspected for damaged delivery).
No one can find a scratch or dent faster than a detailer. LOL

I will talk to my friends at BMW and see if i can get some for you if you would like... PM me if you are interested.

I used 4 steel spacers that are used to level Work van shelves, and trimmed the inside of the bumper on the bottom corner where th lower air damn was attached. Prolle didnt need to do both. I also used clear door edge molding the kind with the glue in it to seal were I cut to slow any rusting at the edge.

on a side note, they might fit stock for some folks. There is not a single 92-96 that I have seen that sits the same height as another. Mine sits low

I agree! I moved my lift and tires from my 91 to my 90, and they rub now, but didn't before. Weird thing is, they rub on the radius arms and not the bumper.
Anyway, if you have a p-grinder, you can fix the problem in a few minutes. You should only have to take a small piece from the corner where it rubs. Then cover the now sharp edge with window trim or somethin.

Thanks to All of you!! :thumbup

- Yes I was suprised 32 x 11.5's rubbed, but they did...and pretty
good. If I had more lift they would have been alright but I have
basically a leveling kit with add a leaf on the rear. About 2" all
around.
I found some steel spacers aroung my shop, they were some
unused parts from some traffic signal hardware. (Our Company
does electrical contracting) they worked good, only gave me
about an inch for now but thats good. If I need more I will have
to get longer bolts.

jerry 1 a b: I did that also.

old blue: Yeah I was suprised to.

Beerman: Thanks for the offer on the spacers!! bu I think I got it now. I appreiciate it! I love the coment on the Honda's piled up on the trailer!!!

Marauder: Cant take it off, I gota do some daily driiving with it also. Or I would take it off and get a custom bumper made.

Thanks again guys!!!
