i've been suffering quietly b/c i knew this thread is there and folks are working on it. yesterday was really rough...to the point that i think the forum was down for a short period.

today seems a little better than recently, though. still not 100% but better.

Agreed. My forum index page still only updates once every 24hrs. It was slow this morning, but seems better this afternoon.

I feel this also over time. I'm rarely on anymore and if it takes too long to load, I'm gone.


Just noticing that I MUST use the reply button rather than my usual MO of the quick reply button. Might be my end? Don't know. However this is the only site that I have an issue with.

hate to complain about anything...but would like it to work "normally" ya kno

Hey all,

Sorry that this is happening again.
When encountering the slowness, do you notice any URL on the bottom left corner?
It should say waiting for/connecting to.
I gave this a test and browsed around the forum with 3-4 seconds of load time (11:27AM EST)

Loaded quick (<5sec) this time. But the quick reply still doesn't work for me. Tried to post this from that method.
Never noticed any urls...and I'm using an HP laptop the old school way as I'm not smart enough for a phone app. Not sure what other info I can give you that would help determine the cause. ???

This TSB article is being republished in its entirety to include Windstar.

ISSUE:
Powertrain Control Modules (PCMs) no longer need to be replaced when servicing driveability concerns. The only time a PCM needs replacing is when it can no longer be reprogrammed and/or is damaged. In all other cases, the PCM must be reprogrammed and NOT REPLACED.

ACTION:
Use the following Service Procedure to properly reprogram a PCM.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
PCM REPROGRAMMING USING SBDS
At the Main menu, select Powertrain and enter the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Select "Continue."
From the Powertrain menu, select Electronic Engine category.
Scroll through the "Tool List" to PCM Reprogramming and select "Continue."
Any TSBs or Recalls for the entered vehicle will be displayed. There is up to a 6 week delay for TSB/Recall information updates on SBDS. New TSB/Recalls may not appear or only the TSB number will be displayed even though the new calibration is on the current calibration CD-ROM. Also, if the vehicle calibration is being updated because of a Special Service Message, Broadcast Message or the PCM was replaced and requires a calibration, no screen may appear. This is not a concern and will not prevent programming updates or being paid for programming updates.
Follow all hook-up instructions and continue as prompted to the calibration screen. Typically, a list of calibration numbers will appear. Answer as appropriate for the vehicle and select "Continue." SBDS will then validate the information entered against the information read in the PCM, and any mismatch of software or hardware will be displayed for technician action.
Insert the proper calibration or the latest level CD-ROM when prompted and follow the instructions as displayed by SBDS. Do not crank the engine. SBDS will update the engine calibration to the latest level calibration for the selected calibration.
After programming is complete, SBDS will display a representation of the Authorized Modification Decal with the Engineering Part Number for the PCM installed. It is important that the label be completed and attached to the vehicle. SBDS will also automatically print a copy of the vehicles log for filling with the Repair Order.
Selecting "Continue" will call for a KOEO self test. Any hard faults present after performing self test were not caused by programming. The calibration has now been validated and the PCM is operating properly. Unless directed by other Service Procedures, the vehicle can be released to the customer.
PCM REPROGRAMMING WITH SBTS/NGS
Select "NGS," then follow procedure "Touring PLM Recalibration."
Be sure to use cable with oversized DCL connector. The oversized connector incorporates an 18-volt transformer supplying the required voltage to reprogram the PCM.

Calibration Code Overview & pic; "...Using the Ford Calibration Code System Ford Motor Company assigned a "Calibration Code" to All makes and models of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles for mode years 1996 through 2002. This Ca Code grouped All emssion control components into a parts list. The CaL Code number can be located on a printed label either on the door frame or on the electronic engine control (EEC) connector on or near the firewall. (See the photo below). Please be careful to locate the correct CaL Code since many resemble each other. Pay attention to the location details for your specific sensor. Hmm,

What browser/device are you using?
Also which skin are you using?
You should be able to see that in the bottom left corner of the forum.

I've sent up the info again to see if they can get to the bottom of it. Thanks for continuing to provide as much info as possible.

If you see the page half load (white screen) see if there is an ad loading, or part of the site loading and grab a screenshot.

As for the speed issues, try and get an idea of how long it lasts.

Speed varies, between 5 sec and 2-3 minutes.

This never popped up as being a new post either... said I've already read it, when i hadn't. Not the first occasion either

Been getting those errors for the last month myself.

AG do your jobs! If I took this long to do a color match, I'd be wearing the paint myself.

So it's been nearly a month since I reported this. I've been dealing with it for over a month. When are you guys gonna do some work? This surely has to be at the TOP of the list after an entire MONTH.

Slowed again today. Even got a 502 server error just trying to pull up the site.

Have we apparently fallen so low on the list of AG's priorities?
How I miss the "good old days". :rolleyes:
are you able to post those 502 errors for us?
I don't about the priority list of things but slow downs are happening to several forums, each one is differently from what I've been told so those 502 errors that you're getting might help us figure out what's causing the site to cut off like that.

as for speed... what's the loading bar usually waiting on? we might need to move the site onto another pod or something if it's taking up too much memory.

I'll try to grab a screen shot if I run across it again. I've had it hit me twice now but there really are no details given. Just a generic notice on a blank browser page. :shrug
As for what's dragging to load... I haven't been able to identify a specific piece in my FFx browser that I could blame this on but I'll keep looking.

I'm on Win10 and use FFx 63.0.1 (and keep it updated) and access speeds through Fiber Optic net service at Download: 55.85 mbps & Upload: 33.08 according to speedtest.net


On the flip side, yesterday I had such great loading speed, I kept running into the search timer limit. All "sense" seems to have gone right out the window.



edit add: I was also messaging with @Weber the other day who was asking if I knew why he was having trouble posting on the site at all but he was able to post through the profile message interface without a problem.
