pfft. just take the hood off when you get there. if clearly marked to reset alignment, they aren't that big a deal unless you're all alone. :shrug
be careful how far you take it while you're still whipped up in a frenzy over the experience. there's dedicated off-road building and double-duty building. are you going dedicated off?

240°+ is hardly 'a little hot' when its boiling the fuel in my carb haha! I have a steel fan and shroud, but I think electric fans would be better. That would be in addition to the Holey Hood.

The reason for cutting holes in a hood is to maintain the draw over the radiator. Completely removing a hood can make it run hotter. I've contemplated adding an "exhaust fan" to a hood hole for pulling the heat out too.

As for the dedicated offroad thing, it's almost at that point anyways. It's squirrely as hell on the road, with lockers, no sway bars, and soft springs. Of course it is capable of highway speeds for long periods of time too lol, as I found out going to Utah. Just not 'comfortable' like say a 96 would be. If it weren't for the heater and radio, it might as well be called a tractor. No modern amenities like dash vents, ac, OD, or cruise control.

My outer axle shafts need replaced, as the spindle bearing has rubbed them raw. Might as well do the other side with a new spindle since the passenger side was just done. Once I saw how much the 60 was gonna be to rebuild, that was out of the question. I could do both the ttb and solid 44 for that price lol.

As far as being off-topic, maybe, but this ought to get guys thinking about their own rigs if they are interested in Moab or elsewhere in the future.

Ask bronco logic about his hood louvers. They make them in all sorts of sizes, popular with the Jeep guys because of the heat under the hood. Could wrap the headers as well if you were inclined. Lastly if you can and don’t do mud, remove the inner fenders. My rig doesn’t have them at all.

You can build it to be a road friendly Offroad machine, that’s exactly what I’ve got. Invest in very good shocks and keep the truck low. Run quick disconnects for the sway bars or go aftermarket if you think you need it. I’m locked with tons on 40s, no OD, no sway bars and a simple suspension. I drive it everywhere without too much concern. It can be done and it’s rad when guys can do it. Mines that blue EB if you didn’t know.

Built ttbs are sweet, if you can avoid drop brackets I think they’re even better.

Yeah I saw his louvers but dont want them on my hood permanently. And a hood is most likely cheaper lol. As for the headers, wrap has been on my mind, but that will void my Jet-Hot warranty. May still do it anyways. Last resort would be ditching the headers all together for efi manifolds, as the jet hot was 500 bucks

All we have here is mud, so the inner fenders have to stay. I do remember those vents they use on EBs and may try to do something similar.

It's still road friendly, able to do 85 down the highway. Just not as smoothly as something else newer. It's not my only vehicle so I don't have to worry too much.

My lift is a pro comp stage 2, with drop brackets for the beams and extended radius arms. I need new springs in the rear at least, as they are factory with AAL and are softer than a "My Pillow". I think that's part of the squirrely-ness. That and the cheap pro comp es3000 shocks...

Going to start a new thread on this in the build section.

Beef up the ttb, in my experience a solid 44 has no advantage other than not eating front tires, but building a good steering set up for the ttb can fix that

Fair enough however the weight and size of the pumkin on a 1 ton are both a lot more then the 44. And with Chrome shafts and high end joints the 44 is plenty if you are not going to go bigger than 37.

I have to admit that this is not the choice that I made but one that was made before I bought the truck but so far I am happy with it. I also understand Marks rational for the 44 choice.

I caught a glimpse of myself at the 2:27 mark. I was on the opposite ridge waiting on the rest of the pack to come down.

I wish I had taken a lot more pictures and video while I was there....

Next time I will... #gopro

And yeah, I plan on having a gopro or something for 2020. Learned a lot while out there, now to put it to use!

Got my Indy Mags ordered! 17x9 with 3.5" BS

Of course my tires are 16s and they dont make the indys in 16...

Now which set to sell...

Honestly I'll probably just sit on these until I need new tires, or put em on my 78 f150 if I ever get it rolling again. Or sell my current set for a couple thousand, they only have 3000 miles on em. I run a full size spare, and I'm getting 5 wheels, not just four. Retail price through summit is $213 each, plus center caps. I made sure to thank them for supporting the Bronco Safari too.

Shipping a couple tires would suck lol.

Well, the 5x5.5s are out of stock. So I'm getting 17x10 8lug wheels for my f350. I just so happened to stumble on 35x12 50x17 Irok ND tires for $220 a piece! Holy crap, the 37x12 50x17 are $420 and the 305/70-17 (35x12.50x17) is $320. I cant find a difference other than the sizing. 220 is a hell of a deal, and I'll be ordering them as soon as I have confirmation on the wheels. Then I'll let y'all know where the deal is, as long as it's not a typo.

They seem to do that with the ND IROK’s for some reason, maybe they don’t sell well and they need to move certain sizes when they sit too long??? Tyler got a smoking deal on 235/85 16 IROK ND’s, like 5 years ago, was like $120 a tire or something. I’m sure you know already, but the compound IROK’s is made of almost evaporates. I love IROK’s, but running them on my powerstroke I would get like 10-15k miles out of them. Maybe big smoky burnouts had a something to do with that, but I tried to do those a little as possible and they still disappeared quick

My iroks are 3 years old and still look new. Maybe it's the humidity here?

Oddly they say they are special order, and are factory shipped?

I started a seperate thread in the general section about the tires.

To bring this all back around, I think I'm hooked on the wheeling thing. I've got the itch to get back out again. I'll have to check out the two semi-local ORV parks.

So when does the FSB Invasion 2020 thread start!? Or is it even an invasion anymore? More like occupation Haha!
