My fuel gauge needle pops all the way to max travel when turning the ignition on. I assumed my in-tank level sender/prime pump assy was bad. Replaced it but the same thing happens, so I need a electrical circuit dwg so I can find the wires and test them. I figure there's a short somewhere causing the gauge to get full 12vdc. Does anyone have, or know where I can find a dwg for '88 Bronco XLT

Most of the factory gauges, at least in my 85, are 5v. The fuel sender produces a certain ohm range that tells the gauge how to read. Pretend, 10 ohms is empty and 90 is full. (Cant remember the actual ohms)

In my 85, there is just one wire for the fuel gauge, a brown one in the main cluster feed. I'm running all Autometer gauges now, and it was as simple as getting the right ohm'ed gauge and jooking that one wire up.
