Ok,
so calling around its pretty much $1000 to install rear gears. fuuug that. What is the best to lower this price? I mean, I have a spare 8.8 axle that I can practice on to get the mesh right. Or should I just leave this to the pros? It doesnt seem to involved, but Ive never done it so what do I know.

Well,
that price was if the shop provided the gears and installed em. I think I only need the gears and master install kit. So you are saying if you provide these items then it should only be around $200 to install?

If you have them do it find out what there price on there gear sets are first?? They might be charging top dollar. Or to save a good amount on the labor cost, Pull out your front 3rd member and take your extra 8.8 in. That will cut the cost a lot cause they wont have to pull it.
