ive got a gallon of 85w140 gear oil thats been in my basement i ve had my diff without fluid for about 2 days now an its time to fill it up now that im done doin what i had to do

the gear oil is sta-lube heavy duty hypoid limited slip gear oil

would i still need the friction additive for the trac lok?

read the back an it says its meets all the requirements for top off or fill all limited slip diffs including the trac-lok

but then has a side note that some manufacturers call for an additional additive for chatter an noise

should i use this? or buy the additive

i don't know shit about diffs.

but what's cheaper? a bottle of additive to be safe? or replacing the clutch packs?

Just the way that side note is worded, I'd add it !

Make sure you keep the empty container to stick in someone's car or locker that you don't like. Stinks worse than $h!t !

IMHO i wouldn't add the additive unless you experiance slippage or chatter. The additive creates less friction and lets the clutch pack slips so they don't grab and chatter.
