Will 33s be ok with a 3.50 axle? It’s going to share DD duties with my other vehicles to work at up to 70 mph. It still has the factory size tires that are 29”.

It will be alright. You will probably feel a loss of power, but it will still go down the road alright

Thanks. I’ve only driven it once, the test drive before I bought it. I have to wait until December 14 for an appointment with the MVD to get it registered then will go straight to the tire shop.

How off will the speedometer be?

you can fix the speedometer by changing the plastic gear on the end of the cable that goes into the transfercase. There is a place somewhere here that tells which gear you need. You probably wont notice a lot of power loss with the 33s. I ran them for years. Now I run 32s

Thanks I’ll search for that. Is the cable and gear accessible? I really want to fill the wheel wells more than what they are. Are those 32s in your avatar?

Your speedo will be 4 to 5 mph off, but those tires will look sooooo much better.

Thanks. I’ll probably run it with a gps to figure out how much it’s off and adjust as necessary until I can get to changing the speedo gear

on a 79 with c6. You will hardly notice any differane from a 31 to a 33" tire. It will actually likely be a little nicer to drive at highway speeds.

10.5" wide tire should be fine on an 8" wide rim. I have 12.5" wide tires on an 8" wide rim right now.

Finally able to drive it now that it’s registered. First stop was Discount Tires. Went with 33 x 10.5s. Looks much better.
