@BigBlue 94 any wisdom on painting wheels? I’m thinking ScotchBrite , acetone, rattle can. Or brush on some flat black RustOleum. I’m ashamed of my grubby looking wheels but i’m not a waxed and polished truck type
Power wash/car wash em first, then acetone or xylol/xylene or lacquer thinner, then the red 7447 scotchbrite, wash with solvent again, then prime with two light coats, followed by two or three coats of rattle can paint. I used generic Rustoleum 2X semi gloss black on my van wheels. That was about 5 years ago. The center caps are the poverty dish snap on type and they did damage the paint, but only where they clamp on. Those wheels made it all the way to 12k feet and survived 6 miles of gravel road per day.
Right after i painted em in july of '18
Exactly 2 years later after getting new tires put on. No damage from the tire machine.
I gave the van away about 18 months ago but have seen it since. Paint still looks good.
