Allright, my truck was originally a 302 and I swapped it for a 300. Since the swap, the factory tach has read high (Obviously).

Everything I've found deals with people swapping tachs into non-tach trucks, and the response always being "the additional ground for the 8 is built into the harness".

So, anyone know what the best way to go about cutting the second ground?

I'm thinking about pulling the whole cluster and disconnecting it at the film strip, but if there's a more straight forward way (as in not having to pull the cluster out) I'm all ears.

The 8 has the extra ground, i know that for sure.

The more i think about it, the less i like chasing wires so I am just going to pull the cluster and clip the wire near the plug.

EDIT: allright, i just said screw it, yanked the cluster, and cut the ground. Left enough of a tail so i can splice it back together when I go in with another 8.

Definitely have a better piece of mind now, not seeing the tack going to almost 4K wen pulling a long hill.
