Okay, my turn to bitch!
I just talked to a buddy of mine at work who owns a 99 Heep Cherokee. Now he's a nice guy and we play Tennis together. He calls me Sunday after cleaning the terminals on his battery and his car won't start, the solenoid just clicks alot. So I go over check it out, ask him if he tried jumping it? Like God revealed himself to him, he had a look of "Oh yeah, that." So we jump it and it starts, but the battery won't hold charge. No problem I offer to run him over to Pep boys so he can buy a new one. As we are taking of the battery post clamps I notice the negative one is cracking. I also mention he might have corrosion in his wires and I could replace them for him if he likes. Did it in Astra's cause I let the corrosion on the battery go for to long, and all the wires had corrision down in them. So, I cut the old clamps off for those new, univeral clamps that have the two bolts on top that allow you to strip the insulation off, and slide the wire under a plate and use the two bolts to clamp it to the battery post clamp. Now I've used these in every vehicle I've ever owned. Never had any problem, they are great for not having to get OEM wires, espically in newer vehicles. Anyways, no corrosion, perfectly looking wires, so I said great, just put these new clamps on and you are good to go.
So anyways, the repair went fine, and Heep is running fine, told him not to worry about the exposed wires, as long as they are touching anything, no problem. Well I just went by his desk to ask him how it is running, he said fine, he is planning on having someone replace his battery wires because he is worried about the exposed wires. This is the same guy who asked me if I knew what to use to clean his engine. This man never looks under the hood, what does he care, does he want it clean for when his mechanic changes his oil and air filter?
Sorry, it just really perturbs me that I went through the work of getting him running and back to normal, and he's going to waste perfectly good money for absolutely nothing! I guess when you have it to waste, you can waste it on what you like.
