Happy 148th Canada Day y'all !!!!!!!!!!!

I was in Montreal back in 67' for Expo 67 for the 100th anniversary.

What a celebration !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only were we not running a deficit, we were virtually debt free. That is to say there was no principal debt.

Britain still owed us three more years of war material debts(which they dutifully paid).

Immigration policies made sense and nobody cared or gave them any thought. If your cousin from America or anywhere in Europe or the British Commonwealth wanted in, NO PROBLEM, come ahead.

Military spending was many times what we spent on health care, which was in it's infancy.

Social assistance had been in place for 2 years (1965) and almost nobody collected it, because we were proud and employed.

The civil service was one of the most efficient on earth, but there was a Liberal suggestion of equal representation of French Canadians in it, which would require a 20% French Canadian make up.

Bilingualism was something Quebec needed and wasn't required for almost any job.

That SOB Charles De Gaulle hadn't made his speech in Quebec City yet (that came a year later.....where's a sniper when you need one?).

The letters FLQ meant nothing to the country.

The country had not yet elected Trudeau 1.0 (boy could I go on about that). That, like a GREAT deal of our problems would start a year later.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................wouldn't it be nice to go back and re-write from there ?

We didn't strip military spending to pay for medicare, which is now 18 times the military's budget.

We didn't elect Pierre.

Pierre didn't screw with our immigration policies.

Liberals didn't F#@% with the BNA act, making some Canadians more equal than others.

As a result, elected politicians would make laws that wouldn't be struck down by un elected Liberal appointed judges.

Pierre didn't sleep with the NDP, in a coalition government that ramped up runaway deficits to "spend us out of troubles".

The Conservative Prime Minister told De Gaulle "no you're not welcome to visit, in fact go F#@& yourself".

Bilingualism was implemented only where it was needed....in Quebec. Instead we now have almost 59% French in government......fair representation I'd say, what say you ??????

Margaret Trudeau (first lady) wouldn't have blown the Stones in NewYork, high on coke.

Pierre wouldn't have nationalized(meddled) the Canadian oil and gas companies.

The metric system was still some weird system that Europe used.

Therefore..........gas was never allowed to creep over $1.00 an Imperial gallon, and still isn't, in a gas producing country, giving us an unfair competitive advantage worldwide and standard of living second to none.

Pierre's minion wouldn't have signed us into the ridiculous Kyoto accord.....that America, China, India, Indonesia, etc didn't sign......

Pierre wouldn't have armed India and Pakistan with the technology to build their own nuclear bombs.

In a country that really doesn't/didn't have to import much of anything. Has 40% of the world's fresh water. untold oil riches, all the wood, natural resources, food, fishing and minerals 100 countries could want................................................................................................................................................somehow

we went into horrendous debt?

Any decent manager, even mildly competent and unsaddled by the real cost of official bilingualism, could have, BY NOW, been sending each and every Canadian a freakin' monthly check (like Norway).

So when you're celebrating tomorrow and that ditzy wife from down the street is swooning over how dreamy Trudeau 2.0 is..............

do something that won't get you thrown in jail, BUT !!!!!!!!! Do something to discourage her NOT to vote Liberal this year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And when that tool from over the back fence is going on how bad things are under Harper, resist the temptation and instead ask him what life would be like under Trudeau 2.0 or that DANGEROUS socialist Mulcair ?????

Enjoy possibly the last non-socialist Canada day we will have for many debt racking years to come.

Happy Canada Day
