I came across this YouTube video and discovered this tool thought it looked super handy because I am redoing a lot of wiring in my Bronco. I bought one (Sperry ET64220 Lan Tracker Wire Tracer) today and didn't find it worked well at all. I tried it on a known wire that goes directly to the battery and tested it out with the battery disconnected and it didnt pick up a signal at all. When I tried with my multimeter and it showed continuity. It just couldnt make it work properly.

So am I using it wrong or are they just not that great for automotive use? I though maybe I should disconnect all the wires are the battery terminal, maybe its messing with the signals? If you guys have any tips or maybe a better model number or something, I'm all ears. I really want this tool to work great!
