Headlight Adjustment

I have been struggling to adjust the headlights on my 90 bronc. The previous owner had the lights pointed as far down as possible, not sure why. I have tried to move the adjustment screws with no luck. Does anybody know what size those adjustment screws are? I don't have a socket small enough and the darn things seem to be seized in place. let me know if I'm missing something here. Thanks.

Should be 5 / 32 but ... is loose, the tube of 4 mm, fits much better.
But if this engaged, put WD-40.:thumbup

Sorry to resurect an old thread but I have a 90 Bronco that I need to lower my headlights because of the installed F250 springs. With the plow lights there is not a problem because the regular lights are not used. I took the frame off for some rust prevention mesures and now find the stock lights too high. To top things off, one of the adjusters are stripped on the passenger side. I have spare housing but the PO broke the inner plastic mounting. When I started to remove mine I can see how he did so but I don't want to repeat that mistake. Also one of the main bolts inner side of the passenger side on the radiator support snapped.

So, I am looking for a diagram for the 87-91 series headlight assembly. I looked on Steve 83's sight as he has one for the 92-96 but that does not help me out. Also I will need to replace the one broken stud. From the looks of it those are made to be replaced, but not sure if LMC would have it..

Each headlight is adjusted by means of 2 screws located at the 10 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions on the headlight underneath the trim ring. Always bring each beam into final position by turning the adjusting screws clockwise so that the headlight will be held against the tension springs when the operation is completed.

Headlight adjustment may be temporarily made using a wall, as described below, or on the rear of another vehicle. When adjusted, the lights should not glare in oncoming car or truck windshields, nor should they illuminate the passenger's compartment of vehicles driving in front of you. These adjustments are rough and should always be fine-tuned by a repair shop which is equipped with headlight aiming tools. Improper adjustments may be both dangerous and illegal.

Before making any headlight adjustments, perform the following preparatory steps:

1.Make sure all tires are properly inflated.

2.Take into consideration any faulty wheel alignment or improper rear axle tracking.

3.Make sure there is no load in the truck other than the driver.

4.The truck's fuel tank should be about half full.

5.Make sure all lenses are clean.

To adjust:

6.Park the truck on a level surface, with the fuel tank no more than 1/2 full and with the vehicle empty of all extra cargo (unless normally carried). The vehicle should be facing a wall which is no less than 6 feet (1.8m) high and 12 feet (3.7m) wide. The front of the vehicle should be about 25 feet (7.6m) from the wall.

7.If this is be performed outdoors, it is advisable to wait until dusk in order to properly see the headlight beams on the wall. If done in a garage, darken the area around the wall as much as possible by closing shades or hanging cloth over the windows.

8.Turn the headlights ON and mark the wall at the center of each light's low beam, then switch on the "brights'' and mark the center of each light's high beam. A short length of masking tape which is visible from the front of the truck may be used. Although marking all 4 positions is advisable, marking 1 position from each light should be sufficient.

9.If neither beam on one side of the vehicle is working, park another like-sized truck in the exact spot where the truck was and mark the beams using the same side light on that truck. Then switch the trucks so the truck being worked on is back in the original spot. The truck must be parked no closer to or farther away from the wall than the second vehicle.

10.Perform the necessary repairs, but make sure the truck is not moved or is returned to the exact spot from which the lights were marked. Turn the headlights ON and adjust the beams to match the marks on the wall.

11.Have the headlight adjustment checked as soon as possible by a reputable repair shop.

Now that you are 25' away from a wall that is at least 6' x 12', what are the headlight aim points? Or is this just a general alignment estimate to get them equal?
Yes yes yes... that is the one, but now I am a bit more confused. :banghead Help me out here, I only see 4 points that hold the light onto the radiator support...

The 2 nuts on the left side that go to the Retainer 13C011 with teh Push Retainer between them NB01192-S32
The 2 nuts on the right side N621905-S36

Right??

Also, one of the studs on the Retainer 13C011 snapped, any idea where these nubmers are from? Ford maybe?

Three bolts are on the grille side & two nuts are on the turn signal/run lt side (close to inner fender & above and below bulb. Seattle's pic show them with dashes (- - - ); according to notes taken on fiddy's comments here years ago.

That stuff is just to get you back to the adjustment you have now; no matter if it is good or off (to far left or right or up or down).
u could always take out the headlight and remone the screws with a pair of vise grips and install new screws that are a phillips head thats what i did
Yeah I was thinking that but was not sure. I have a spare set of headlights with the plastic frame but both are broken off where the 2 screws are behind the turn marker... figured the PO did not have the diagram and just broke them off... too bad I did not know any better. I also see that just the headlight with the adjuster screws can be had from JBG so I am guessing I should be able to take about my messed up ones and use good parts from the spares to make a good set... will have to wait for the weekend to see.

Would anyone know why my headlights look droopy? I replaced one whole headlight assembly(Passenger side) and now only one side is droopy. Not to sure why.
