I would question the actual functionality of the so-called added "skidplate". And all the extra weight with the 3/8ths plate used for it. It's supposed to "protect the tie rod", but really if you are approaching a rock(s) big enough to possibly hit the tie rod, they will certainly get caught up on the diff, so I'd be looking to take a line to avoid the tallest rocks lining up at the diff, but rather utilize the extra 5" or so you get out at the passenger tube.

Look at it this way, that big rock that you slide up on with this skidplate...where's it going to go on the backside of that diff.....right onto your yoke/driveshaft.
