Well i picked up a IBM server off ebay to use as a webserver and other stuff. I bought it with extra loan money from the college, anywayz though acording to the auction it is PIII XEON DUAL 700's. I got a damn good deal since the auction ended at 3am.

Well after looking inside i about creamaed my pants as there are 4 cpus...Now i know i stole this thing. Here is some shotty cameraphone pics in the morning darkness of my apt.....now i can't wait for me SCSI drives to get here.

Now i am a hardcore AMD fan but you can't pic there servers up cheapily yet. So this will do for awhile. BTW i only paid like 150 bucks for this including shipping. :goodfinge

What are your plans for it?

I am looking at picking up an IBM RS-6000 F-80 with dual 64-bit RISC processors running UNIX-AIX from work...I am about to replace it with a new cluster of servers.

I might try to setup a terminal server but IIRC (its been awhile) TS requires a complete server then i can't do anything else, but i already have my 64 bit machine setup with RDP so i really don't need another....might be also be for the clan that i am part of in COD if they don't get a server soon. right now though i need to get apache runnin on it. It will be a good learning experiance.

BTW i can host a ton of porn since i have my own domain :rockon

Good luck getting any support for that thing. And I mean any support, but you probably already know that.

Might as well have a mainframe in your basement. :toothless

Not sure on the memory specs.....been way to busy with work and school...then come home to work on other peoples pc's/laptops.......Only thing i found out incorrect, the auction stated that there is onboard SCSI for HD's....Well it needs PCI cards, so i have to wait for funds to replenish, as i used my loan money for school for this, bumper from davey and a ton of other misc stuff.........which right now it is all spent.

Cool, My Workstaion at home is a quad processor HP LC2000 With 800 Xeons in it. I have an LH4r that will take up to 6 proccessors but it only has 4 in it now and I haven't been able to find 6 matching ones to go in it.

I may have a PCI SCZI card if you need one (Free to U) . Are you going to have to have a seperate drive array or do you have it built in??

awww sweet, I am a little confused on what you mean by a seperate array or to have them built in.

It has the capacity for 6 hott swappable scsi HD's. They all need to run off a card.

OK cool that means you already have the drive array/cage. Actually I guess the array would be what it is when you get RAID running.

Let me do some looking and I'll see if I can find a PCI SCSI card. IT is PCI right?? PM me if I don't get back to you in a week or so. I forget to check back.

I run a network I have more parts than you can imagine. But thanks just the same. I'll start digging. If you don't know all the connectors and stuff here's a good site.
