The other night i was 4 wheeling when out of the blue the vehicle just died. I got out and realized my battery cable had come off. I put it back on turned the key back to on and everything went out. I checked all the fuses they all seem to be good. Now when i turn the key on absolutely nothing works not even the lights. But when i turn the key to the on position and jump the hots and the soleniod and get it started everything starts working like gauges and running lights and taillights though the headlights do not work. Has anyone encountered something like this before or any ideas on what may have gotten messed up?

i'd check the wiring and connections at the alternator and voltage regulator and everything in between. if your battery cable came off something else might be loose or damaged. also, update your info so everyone knows what you're driving. probably get better help that way. oh and welcome to the forum.

start shaking some wires, you have something loose somewhere.

Yes, check the ground cable where it connects to the
engine block under the alternator. Take the bolt out
and clean the connection, then replace and retighten it.
