the great thing about it is you can do whatever you want, if your looking for a mall crawler, a little lift and tires will make it look good, then if you get into offroad, the amont of money you have to put in goes way up, but is worth it imo.

start looking through the picture threads till you find something you like, then PM the member and ask about their setup, yours looks great though, so you gotta decide what you want.

welcome to fsb man,
Paul

man thats the cleanest one from the early eighties i have seen since the late eighties that noone has put thier hands on... 6" lift and 35" tires. a mild 3:73 or 4:10 gear ratio open diffs aned you got a primo cruiser. I hope the engine runs as good as the truck looks. Hows the floors? whats the specs? how many miles. Oh and chuck those rims with something in the newer in mind those hurricanes kill the look of any vehicle they were ever on. I hated them my whole life lookin at vehicles but thats just my oppinion

Well all i really know about it is, its a 5.0, 302. And it still got all stock parts on it. I got lucky with this one, I bought from a guy who didnt use it much and really never drove it except in the winter. He was older so the interior is clean as hell, ill post pics of the interior. He rebuilt the engine and put a new tranny in. Now all i need is wheels, a lift, and a paint job. I bought it for almost 2,000 so im happy with it, thanx for all the feedback

if a vehicle comes stock with 3:55's and 29 to 31" tires how do you figure they are to steep... should he stay stock and waste alll his gas or possibly waste his c6 due to over compensating for no gears in the rear? I am not saying he should put 4:56's or 88"s in there 3:73 to a 4:11 is perfect depending on the tire and its true measurement

i agree a 4.10 would be fine for 35's, but they dont make 3.73's for D44 ttb axles iirc.

Looks pretty good.Obviuosly not from minnesota its whole life.Truck there from the 90's are about rusted away completely!!!. I was out there 2 weeks ago. I agree about the wheels. They kill the look of the truck.Way too 70's!!.
You need to lift it 12 inches with 1 ton axles od rockwells with at least 40 inch swampers and then drop a 514 stroker. Its not my money!!! LOL :thumbup

That is a really nice truck. You really lucked out.

Other than ditching the rims (IMHO) I'd say drive it a while and see what you like and dislike about the truck. If you want to start simple, look into some of the engine and ignition upgrades that some of the guys have done on here. Since you lucked out with it looking good (and not having do deal with crazy rust issues) start with getting it running awesome.

AND FOR CHRISSAKE if you want a softtop, don't ask "Where can I buy one?" on here. However, start looking for them on eBay, Craigslist, here and anywhere else that someone would sell one used.

... or build your own.

All in all, a nice rig to start with! :thumbup
