Ok, over the weekend I decided to rip out all my old interior like the carpets, rear plastic panels, rear head liner, etc. and Herculine everything.
I was sick of having to shampoo the rugs everytime I go off road, and I am really sick of cleaning the headliner.
The plastic panels were all beat up and ugly from the previous owner so I decided to trash those as well.
Well I herculined the floor, the sidewalls, etc. and it turned out really great. Best thing is that it went write over my Dynamat with no problems. I also had the spray dynamat on my sidewalls and the herculiner stuck to that just fine too.

No more carpets, what you see is what I have, everything else went in the dumpster.

I also finally installed my dual Optima Red top Batteries.
I still have a little wire work to do with that but it will get done soon.
Enjoy.

FYI, The tailgate is Linex'd and the rest is all Herculiner.
The linex is much better quality but I didnt have to pay for that, I got rear ended a few months ago, and instead of the insurance company paying for herculiner they just had it Linex'd instead.
I didnt argue.:thumbup

BeerBro, Did you paint the inside of the shell once you took down the headliner? My buddies 89 has a bare shell, and no headliner and his is white to match his bronk. I want to take mine down because driving with the windows down just makes it gross looking. I would do it tommorrow if it was just gonna be black and not some odd color....

Yup it was black, I didnt have to paint it at all.
It was totally flawless as you can see in the pics.
I was so happy I didnt have to paint it.:beer

The topper had a headliner? Weird. I wasn't aware of that, in the '78 and '89 I just have bare fiberglass.

No the interior noise level is fine.
I am also going to be undercoating the heck out of the underbody so that will make up for it if not make it more soundproof.

The heat, :shrug
I will let you know tomorrow after my drive to work.

I am also going to have all my windows retinted after I replace the back glass and driver door glass (scratches). I am going to use a 100% UV protective tint and will go 20% front and really dark in the rear. That will eventually help with the heat.

I had tailgate carpet but trashed that a long time ago. That was after the first herculiner project, then the new tailgate came in after the wreck and like I mentioned before it got Linex'd then.
I hated that blasted carpet anyway.

I had the tailgate carpet to...TAKE IT OFF (if you still have it)! Its worthless, Its just there to look nasty and get stained. It really serves no purpose...And if you are constantly getting tools in and out, It doesnt take long to get screwed up.

Thanks Raf. After i seen the back of your rig without panels and carpet I got the idea for it. So I guess your write up on that gas tank was multi-tasked :toothless

Nice work man:beer :beer , so why did ya stop after the back seats, you got the hardest part done, you should have gone all the way through to the front with the liner. So how long did it take you from start to finish with prep and everything?

Looks good.

But, why didnt you isolate your spare battery? And even make it switchable via toggle?

Just curious.

The excursion came with dual batts, isolated. So, when I blare music while camping it goes until it can go no more. Than i hop in and crank using the fresh battery. kinda makes things beer proof.
