Hey I'm Noobie/Make A Fuel Pump Access Panel

Hello All, (I tried the search but not much help)..Anyone know of a Thread that describes how to cut an "Access Panel For Fuel Pump" My 93 is about to go and wanted to try the access panel instead of dropping the tank(I live in an apartment and don't have room).I've read that "Gearrat" did this.

Can someone tell me the basics? Or point me in the right direction?

I have never heard of a pannel on the Broncos. i defenatley had mine done at a shop this summer, and they had to drop the tank. then i a month later my gas tank started leaking and i had to put a new one in, i never noticed any access pannel. i think your stick with dropin the tank. its not realy that hard, you can do it in an afternoon no problem.

Yep Keith_L is a member here and he did this long ago.
BUT his pictures got lost on the internet :banghead
BUT I "took / borrowed" them ;) so they are safe on my superford site.

I'm sure he'll respond soon to answer any weird questions about it

if i were to try this trick i would crawl under and pull a tape to find where the part is that you have to pull, get a idea of how big the hole would have to be, see if there is any thing in the way of cutting opperations. then go top side and look for the same. if all is clear i'd cut the floor with a jig saw or maybe a sawall with a good metal cutting blad. make sure you have room so as not to punch a hole in the tank, maybe see if you could slide someting like plywood in there to protect it. i'm not sure if any of this would work, there may not be room.

yeah. a lot was lost twice this year @ SF due to tech probs. This cut-out and lid (or door) should be among the top 10 mods to be done to EFI Broncos. As far as being a time/$ saver; esp. during weather days like today.
Again, thanks to Ryan for saving the pics!

Yea, this was a simple procedure...think my link and Keiths give you an idea of where to measure, how much to cut. It will make your life way easier.

Al
Oh, hey Al, how ya been? Last time we spoke, it was shortly after that when friggin' Superford accidently erased all my stuff. Still have not recovered from that and likely won't. All my offroading pics are gone, but that's ok, just got to go out with the gang and make new ones!!!!!! :chili:

Anything in particular you're looking for? I just posted up my new upper rear shock mount brackets, to go along with the modified lowers.

What is this for?

have a part # for it?

Feel free to e mail me whenever you have anymore good stuff! :usa
That is my front bumper-mounted industrial bottle opener..... :rockon

or,

a con-fer fold up step. The newer trucks have a bumper you just can't stand on to get into the engine compartment of a lifted truck. It's easy to get in there with these steps. I don't have a part number...only place I found them was Central 4wheel drive, about $20 apiece. Saw them on Kurt H.'s truck and liked the idea.

Personally, i'd rather drop the tank than cut a hole in anything. It's really not that tough. If you are desperate enough, you can always cut the mounting bolts for the tank - but it's definetly not for the faint of heart. :brownbag
