After many years of sitting there in my driveway with the occasional start up and run for a few minutes and shutdown....I decided it was time to drive the beast once more....

I had a problem though....I had problems with the truck remaining at high idle (2000rpms) It wouldn't settle either...

A call to McMaster-carr and a trip to the local Kragen yielded a good result.

Kragen:
Royal purple fully synthetic oil
Vacuum line boots

Ford dealer:
Ford Racing oil filter
Copper Bung Gasket
Vacuum schematic

McMaster-Carr:
Multple colors of 5/32in reinforced nylon lines

Using a lighter I reproduced/improved the corners where the line breakouts occured in the plastic loom tubing and retaped the vacuum harness back together as a bundle.

I plugged in all components and fired the truck up....got some surging as the
OBD1 was checking for all components....then it warmed up at 1500rpms and settled to a cool 750rpms.

I also noticed that the exhaust smelled crisp and actually had water drops coming from the tail pipe! I think we're ready for smog!!!!

No sweet smells along with the drops.....

It was a recently built engine....96 roller shortblock, custom grind cam, ported GT40xHeads, reworked intake, roller rockers, 1 piece pushrods, Coated JBA headers, Coated bassani Y pipe, new Catco converters, 3in exhaust all the way back. It sounds HEALTHY now!!!
