I have a chance to buy a 96 explorer long block with the gt40 heads brand new in the crate. I have two questions about this motor specifically the cam. Will the HO firing order run with :wacko the bank to bank fuel injection or vis versa. My intial thoughts are it should not matter. Also will this factory ford cam have the 112-114 cam degree seperation that is need for vacum?

Not sure about the cam. If it's a 96 then it's probably MAF so it might not have the 114 deg LSA you need for SD. The firing order will not make a difference with bank injection. Many guys have changed firing order and can verify this if you have any doubts.

If you need headers I got them, 50 + shipping

Search the header plugs for Gt-40P heads, run those and 90* plug wires

I do not think the bank firing will be a issue either. Look at all carb mustangs running ho motor setups. The EFI is just different on how it distributes the fuel.
Those headers are a good deal but the heads are gt 40 not the p ones, so I should be good to go. Just need to find out more about the 96 explorer cam.

Really someone swapped regular Gt40's when they came with P's??? Thats weird.

well if the plugs come out straight they are P's. Also there are several P's cast in the heads. If anyone wants I can snap pics today when I get mine on a stand.

81Bronk - can you please post up more pics of the headers you have, a couple different shots of each?

Are they unequal length or equal length? Also, what brand or who makes them? From the one photo you have posted, they appear to be equal length (preztel headers). ?

Are they Mustang headers, or actually for a truck application?

I'm in the market for a set that will work with GT40P heads, as I just picked up a 2000 Explorer engine.

Thanks - not trying to make this into a classified ad thread, but please do send me some more info on them or post more pics, do post pics of the heads you were speaking about too.
