I finally f*cking found one.
1969 F-250 Camper Special.

Uhhh, a V8 engine. ;)
C6, D60 with 3.73 gears.
Only has 80k miles. Engine has 9K. Tranny has 300 miles.
New front seat and carpet.
Dual tanks, trailer brake controller.
MSD ignition.
Oh wait, what V8 you ask?
Four-Twenty-Eight.
That's right a f*cking 428.
And I thought I wanted a 390.
Oh and it comes with another dissassembled 390, too.

:D Only $2300
He was asking $2600 OBO and I was the only interested party.
I've been looking for almost a year and every one I find with a 390 gets sold before I get to it. I was amazed that this one didn't sell before I got it!

Oh, the 428 is flippin awesome. I got on it when I was test driving it and it pulled until I got off it.
The front brakes are huge for that old of a truck, too.
It took me almost a year of buying Truck Trader and the Recycler every week to find that beyotch. I'm so happy I found it.

Excellent score Clarko

sounds like it was worth the wait. They didn't come stock with 428s did they ? I had a buddy who swore by his 429s and 460s and I knew they came with 390s, but 428s too ?

I know exactally what you mean. When I was looking for my extended cab 79 I looked for like 3 years in the trucktrader untill I found exactally what I wanted. when I found it I couldn't have the cash for it for a week, but I wasn't going to let it get by me so I took out a big cash advance on a credit card and bought it.

Are you sure its 3.73 gears? Or was it re-geared? Because AFAIK they only came with 3.54's and 4.10's

Thanks!

In 68(could be 67)-69 you could get a factory 428 and I know a guy that has a 69 with one.
429/460s came out in the pickups in 70, I believe, although it could have been as late as 73, with the bodystyle change.

1969 Axle Code C8, 3.73 Limited Slip. Options in the D60 those years were 3.54, 3.73, 4.10, 4.56, 4.83, and 4.88. All could be had with the limited slip.

Yeah I've been looking over a year for a 67-72 F-250 with a 390 when this one stuck out to me. I was so happy to see that this one wasn't sold before I got it. He got a few offers before I came along but he didn't want to sell it to someone who was gonna just run it into the ground as a gardener truck or hack it up for parts or scrap or something. It's very clean and the first thing it needs is a headliner. No emblems are missing and all the Ranger trim is there.

That's funny because i've been trying to sell one just like that for over a year and no one is interested. Mine has a 390 and everybody bitches about the mileage it will get. Must just be different parts of the country.
