Well after 2 years of being overdue for my M-16 qualification and be bitching about it all 2 years, I got to go shoot.
And of course the smart Air Force way of doing it for class c shooters going to qualify every 3 years, we had to spend 5 hours "learning" how to disassymble and operate the rifle again.
Didnt do to shabby, little less then I wanted. Shot a 37. 5 shy of expert. My kneeling and my over cover/foxhole was a little rough. I was swaying a bit during those to. Also I think I missed a couple with my gas mask on. First time I ever fired with a mask, and I hope I never have to really do it with a M-16. That is a pain in the ass.
But anyways to the cool expereince. After we fired and cleaned the rifles, 6 of us were sitting in the classroom. The instructor walked in and asked if we wanted to expend the remaining rounds. Had about 200 left over. So we say yes and had back to the range. He let us expend a couple in burst. But the kicker was they had an A2 that was converted back to an A1. So we got to expend the rest of the ammo in full auto. Now that was just awesome. best 10 seconds of my life haha. I only had 2 20 rnd mags but it was well worth it.
too bad though that we didnt get to play with the 2 Mk-19s and 1000 rounds they had in the armory.
