but I'd still like to throw it out there and see what you guys think.

- Start with a 1995 F-150 Xtracab shortbed 4x4
- remove the bed, cut big hole in back of cab
- get a 1995 Bronco (with blown motor/frontend damage or ???)
- cut the back half of the Bronco off (just behind the doors)
- Mate the 2 together
- You now have an Extracab Bronco

Benefits:
more interior space for people/cargo
longer wheelbase than bronco, shorter than xtracab pickup
removable top
major cool factor

Would this work?
Is the hassle/cost factor too high?
Thoughts?

Dumb idea? Nope. But why not build the F150 and simply bolt on a high quality camper shell? Unless you are trying to hit a specific wheelbase, the extended cab short bed truck route is the fastest way to get a long wheelbase... a little too long. But it's cheap! ;)

Thanks for the feedback guys. I thought about an F-150 xtracab with a shell but they're so long!!! Plus I love the look of Broncos and the cool factor of an extended Bronco.

does anyone know what the wheelbase would be if you ad the "XtraCab section" to the middle of a Bronco??? I assume it would stretch it about
15"+/-???? So that would put the wheelbase at about 120" - correct?

Thanks

The wheelbase of the extended cab short bed F150 is around 139" inches. The regular cab short bed F150 is 117" inches. Rough numbers suggest the extended cab portion adds 22" inches of wheelbase. It's not an exact science, but if you were to add the full section of the F150 extended cab to a Bronco you'd end up with 104" + 22" = 126" inch wheelbase.
