Alright, I know I should steer clear of opinion questions but I fell short and have been noticing a lot of "if I could do it again, i'd do it cheaper, better etc" posts. I have a pretty much stock 5.0 96 XLT that has already had the interior replaced with the Eddie Baur stuff. We are going to buy a house soon so we are going to be pinching pennies. She has basically given me a 1200 dollars(give a little maybe if I beg enough. Yeah I know I am whipped. :twak )budget for the next year for working on my truck , so I have to make every cent count. What are some midrange mods I could do. Are Bassani headers really worth the $375? I have heard the y-pipe is but are there other brands that are just as good but don't get all the glory that Bassani does? What other mods should I look for to awakn the 302? And before you say it an engine swap is out of the question. I'd have to blow this one before the wife would even think about letting me near a 351. Are the GT40p heads off of an explorer worth the pain of having to get special headers? If they are should I try to snag the intake too? I am going to stick with the K&N drop in filter and insulate everything from the throttlebody to the air intake, so no expensive FIPK. I want to try to get as much out of this pittance of cash that I can so all advice is welcome. *puts on flame retardant suit and waits*

gibson, jba, edelbrock and BBk also have great quality headers. i would not install the P heads but if your wanting to upgrade your heads go aluminum like some edelbrock or trickflow to really get some good performance, also consider a cam swap as well

$1200?! $500 for tires, $200 for brakes, $150 for (5) oil changes per year, leaves $350 for the unexpected repair, (radiator, H2O pump, battery, etc). Tell your wife it's impossible to maintain a Bronco for under $1200/yr.:cry

depends on where you want to spend it...engine performance...suspension upgrade...wheels/tires...paint and body...decide where you want to spend the money then its an easier choice of what to do in that category.

If you want the FIPK performance without the cost build a ghetto one. Look under the project walkthrough section for instructions.

First of all DWNHLLR...YOU tell her that. :D Seriously though the budget doesn't include maintenance. It's pretty much understood there will be things that have to be done to maintain the BKO. The budget also doesn't reflect breakdowns. I was pretty much wanting to stay with the engine and exhaust. The body isn't in bad condition and the interior's been done already. If I got a lift that would pretty much suck up most of the alloted funds. I think I can wait until my next deployment for a lift. Then I can get it all done at once the right way.
