Hi, is there any way to identify an open carrier or a LSD carrier visually (without the axle tag)? In this case the carrier has a detroit in it, so i am unsure of what it was originally.

open your door the axle code should be in there
or if you have your build sheet it'll be on there
then search the axle code
but if it has a locker in the carrier i'm guessing it was open

If it has a detroit EZlocker, which is the detroit lunchbox locker, the carrier IS an open carrier.

A full detroit replaces the entire carrier, and well, IS a detroit. The ring gear bolts directly to the detroit.
